The Church of the Nativity is currently undergoing significant restoration and thus we were not able to see the main church in its glory. We were still able to celebrate mass in the chapel.

Bethlehem - 9/8/15

Arrived in Bethlehem in the West Bank. Had to pass through large security complex and the highest walls I have ever seen.

The sandstorm made everything mysteriously evil too.

On our way to Bethlehem this morning. Temperatures are expected to be 98 degrees Fahrenheit. We cannot see Jerusalem this morning. The entire city is covered in a brown haze. Visibility is about 200 ft or less. This is apparently caused by this heat wave.
