Garden of Gethsemane - 9/7/15

We arrive at the Garden of Gethsemane and the Basilica of Agony; also know as the Church of all Nations. Again providence was with us and although unplanned we were able to celebrate mass at the main altar where Jesus prayed.

In the pictures you will see the rock exposed at the foot of the Altar. Again the church was designed by Antonio Barluzzi and this Basilica was finally rebuilt in 1924. The Basilica is dark inside as was Barluzzi's intention to keep the focus on the altar and the rock. The external mosaic on the front of the Basilica is stunning.
